YOUR TAX RECEIPT

What Your Tax Receipt Is Worth In Alberta

Your receipt is based on what your vehicle is worth. We look at the year, make, model, mileage and condition, and we can appraise the car before pickup so you know the figure before you commit.

In Alberta the minimum receipt is $600, the same as Ontario. There is no maximum. Alberta vehicles often hold their value well, so if you have a higher-value car, tell us on the form or over the phone and we’ll appraise it properly.

Your receipt arrives by email by the end of the month after we pick up the car. A car collected in March means a receipt by the end of April.

Paperwork In Alberta

We’ll send a new bill of sale for the registered owner to fill out and return, either before pickup or to the tow driver on the day. Hand over your keys at the same time.

Take your licence plates off before we arrive. They belong to you, not the car, and you can reuse them.

You don’t need an inspection or an out-of-province certificate. We take the vehicle as it is.

Questions about the paperwork? Call 1-833-465-7227 before booking and we’ll walk you through it.

WILL YOU TAKE MY CAR?

Almost Always, Yes.

We take cars that:

  • Are in good, running condition
  • Have body damage or rust
  • Don’t run
  • Have a dead battery or flat tires
  • Won’t pass a safety inspection
  • Have been sitting for years
  • Have high mileage
  • You inherited

As long as your car has tires and wheels, we’re good to go.

Give us a call first if:

  • You can’t find the ownership papers
  • There’s still a lien on the car
  • The car isn’t in your name
  • You’re outside the cities we serve

None of these is an automatic no. Most get sorted out on the phone.

Still not sure? Give us a call.

TESTIMONIAL

What Calgary Donors Say

“Our family had to donate our beloved Bertha, a 2005 Dodge Caravan that was on its last leg. Dealing with Homeless Cars was wonderful as they explained everything very thoroughly. They arrived in a timely manner on the morning of pickup and the tax return came in on time as stated in the follow up email. Highly recommend this service to anyone considering donating their vehicle and helping our local communities. Thanks again!”
