Top 4 Questions when considering donating a car to HOMELESS CARS

1.     Who is Homeless Cars?

Homeless Cars is a Canadian charitable foundation accepting vehicle donations for charity and in return provide the donor with a tax receipt for the value of their vehicle.

Homeless Cars provides funding to charities that support those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity while remaining local to the community in which the donation was made. The process is fast, free, easy and a gratifying way of disposing of an unwanted vehicle.

2.      Why should I donate my vehicle to Homeless Cars?

We are proudly 100% Canadian

We promise donors that the money raised from donated cars not only stays in Canada but stays in the community in which you donated, assisting charities in those cities directly helping those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Homeless Cars is fully transparent in whom they distribute funding to and none of the money leaves Canada.

You’ll receive a tax receipt for the value of the vehicle. As of October 2021, Homeless Cars offers a minimum of a $500 tax receipt for your vehicle donation, regardless of if the vehicle is running or not. The best part? If the value of your vehicle is deemed to be higher than $500, Homeless Cars adjusts the tax receipt to reflect the value of your vehicle.

The money raised and distributed to partner charities helps people in a tangible way i.e. feeding, sheltering and clothing people. All of the charities we support focus on helping those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. This is unique to Homeless Cars.

No middleman – this means less expenses and more money for our partner charities. We do it all in house; from taking the call to scheduling your free tow and all the required administration.

Expenses are kept low – We rely on organic growth, referrals, news media, our charity partners and social media to help us get the word out, ensuring that the funds generated from your donation go to our charity partners instead of advertising.

We’re transparent! – If you have questions, we are happy to answer them!  Please give us a call at 1-833-465-7227.

3.      Why is your minimum tax receipt more than the competitions and how do you evaluate the tax receipt?

Our minimum guaranteed tax receipt will vary depending on the price of metal, a commodity that fluctuates. As of October 2021, the minimum tax receipt is $500.

Homeless Cars has an Appraiser on site with 3 decades of experience in the auto recycling business. We put each car through a diagnostic, looking for things such as mechanical issues, the appearance of the vehicle, the mileage, whether the vehicle is driveable and the current demand for the vehicle. Our appraiser evaluates it coupled with the use of North America’s largest auction database. We are then able to arrive at a fair market value which we can both support and guarantee. Homeless Cars, in compliance with CRA regulations, provides you with a tax receipt for the fair market value of the vehicle you have donated to Homeless Cars.

4.      What do you do with the cars after they are donated? How do you raise money for your partner charities?

After the value is determined, each vehicle is sold to one of our partner auto recyclers. Based on the vehicle appraisal, each car is sold for either scrap, sold for parts or sold with the intent of reselling the vehicle as a road worthy car. This is how we generate funds to support our partner charities.
